18th UNILAG Annual Research Conference Enters Day 2 with Panel Sessions, Poster Presentations

The 18th Annual Research Conference of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) continued on Thursday, October 16, 2025, with a series of panel sessions and Poster Presentations hosted simultaneously at the Tayo Aderinokun Hall as well as Guest Houses and Conference Centre, UNILAG, Akoka.

The sessions brought together, scholars and students to explore faculty-specific topics, targeted at exploring Artificial Intelligence (AI) across different sectors, in line with the theme of the 18th UNILAG Annual Research Conference: The Future of Work, Education and Wellbeing in the AI Age.

The sub-themes discussed included:
• AI in Advancing Agriculture, Biological Research, Biotechnological Innovation and Health,
• AI in Business Decision-Making, Entrepreneurship, Analytics and Customer Insights,

• Education, Curriculum Development and Strategies in the AI Age,
• AI in the Humanities for Inclusion, Equity, Social Good and Ethico-Legal Issues,
• AI in Environmental Monitoring, Climate Adaptation, Ecological Preservation and Sustainable Cities and,
• AI -Driven Engineering, Innovation and Scientific Discovery.

Highpoint of Day 2 was a round table discussion on: AI, Education, Work and Society. Panelists were;:
• Professor Pius Adejoh (Department of Sociology),
• Professor Folashade Afolabi (Distance Learning Institute),
• Dr. Chika Yinka-Banjo (Department of Computing and Robotics)
• Dr. Ugochukwu Amaeze (Senior Lecturer, Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Biopharmacy) and

• Professor Michael Kunnuji (Department of Sociology) as Moderator.

They all weighed in on AI being a game changer in their respective fields and emphasized the need for stakeholders across all sectors to reposition themselves for continued relevance in view of the consistent AI evolution and its potential impacts on the education landscape.
