2025 UNESCO–AIUIa Fellowships in Heritage Research and Conservation: Call for Applications

Applications are now open for the 2025 UNESCO/Kingdoms Institute: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia–AIUIa Fellowships Programme, a prestigious global initiative advancing research, conservation, and management in the field of heritage studies.

The 24-month fellowship will run from March 2026 to May 2028 and targets outstanding early-to mid-career researchers and professionals.

The programme is open to candidates specialising in Culture, Heritage Management, Architecture, Urban Planning/Development, Archaeology, Conservation, Museum Management, Cultural Policies, Anthropology, Art History, Arts Management, Creative Industries, International Relations, and Social and Human Sciences.

Applicants must:

  • Hold at least a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in the relevant fields, or a first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience.
  • Be between the ages of 25 and 40.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English (knowledge of other UNESCO official languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish will be an added advantage).
  • Submit all required application documents before the deadline.

Applications should be submitted by email to [email protected] on or before 22 September 2025, midnight (CET) / 11:00 PM (WAT).

The required application package includes:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages).
  2. Certified copy of highest diploma/degree.
  3. Completed Application Form (Annex 4).
  4. Motivation Letter (1 page).
  5. Proposal Form (Annex 5, maximum 3 pages, PDF format).
  6. A 2-minute self-introduction video in English (MP4, under 50 MB).
  7. Copy of valid passport (expiry date after July 31, 2026).

The Royal Commission for AIUIa (RCU) and UNESCO will jointly assess, interview, and select the most qualified candidates.
