The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is pleased to welcome Professor Kenneth Amaeshi as the Adjunct Occupier of the Samuel Asabia First Bank (FBN) Professorial Chair of Business Ethics in the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences.
Professor Amaeshi, an internationally respected scholar in Sustainable Finance, Corporate Governance, Business Ethics, and Economic Development, arrived at the University on Friday, March 13, 2026 to commence his engagement. He currently serves as Professor of Sustainable Finance and Governance at the European University Institute, Florence, and Visiting Professor of Financial Markets and Leadership in Africa at the London School of Economics.
Over the course of his distinguished academic career, Professor Amaeshi has held several prestigious appointments. These include serving as Chair in Business and Sustainable Development at the University of Edinburgh Business School and as Honorary Professor at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Beyond academia, Professor Amaeshi has made significant contributions to policy development and industry practice. He has served as Economic Adviser to the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation, Chief Economic Adviser to the Imo State Government, and Sustainability and Governance Adviser to the Dangote Group.
The Samuel Asabia First Bank (FBN) Professorial Chair of Business Ethics was established to advance scholarship and thought leadership in business ethics, responsible leadership, and sustainable enterprise.
