UNILAG Honours Professor Musa Obalola for Impactful Tenure as Dean of Students Affairs

The Management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), on Monday, March 16, 2026, celebrated the immediate past Dean of Students Affairs (DSA), Professor Musa Obalola, in recognition of the successful completion of his tenure.

The brief but significant session took place during the University Management’s weekly meeting held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Boardroom on the 10th Floor of UNILAG Senate House.

Speaking during the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, stated that the gathering was organised to acknowledge, congratulate, and celebrate Professor Obalola for what she described as an impactful tenure that was widely appreciated by the student community.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, beyond successfully completing his term in office, Professor Obalola distinguished himself by earning and sustaining the respect and goodwill of students throughout his stewardship. She noted that this achievement contributed significantly to the atmosphere of peace and stability enjoyed within the University during the period.

Members of the University Management also took turns to commend the former Dean, praising his dedication to protecting students’ rights while maintaining order and discipline within the institution.

The management team members particularly highlighted his maturity, wisdom, diligence, zeal, patience, composure, and admirable sense of professionalism throughout his service as Dean of Student Affairs.

In his response, Professor Musa Obalola expressed gratitude to God and to members of the University Management for the support and cooperation he received during his tenure. He noted that their collective efforts made it possible to record notable successes in the administration of student affairs.

Before his appointment as substantive Dean, Professor Obalola served as Deputy Dean of Student Affairs between October 2020 and October 2021. He later served in an acting capacity from November 2021 to March 2022 before being appointed substantive Dean in March 2022, a position he held until March 2026.

His tenure, which spanned four years in substantive capacity, was marked by sustained efforts to foster constructive engagement between the University administration and the student body while maintaining peace and stability within the institution.
