The Chemical Society of Nigeria, Lagos chapter will hold its maiden conference from Tuesday, June 23 to Thursday, June 24, 2026, at 9:00a.m daily at ACEDHARS, University of Lagos, Akoka

- Theme: Responsible AI in Chemical Sciences for Advancing Security, Ethics and Sustainable Environment
- Keynote Speaker: Prof. Omotayo Arotiba, FRSC, FCSN (Professor at the Department of Chemical Sciences, University of Johannesburg, Director of the Centre for Nanomaterials Science Research, University of Johannesburg, and Chairman of ElectrochemSA)
- Dr. Desmond Moru (Acting Head, Department of Computer Science, Pan-Atlantic University).
The conference will feature:
- Â An inter-institutional debate competition for undergraduate students, and
- A science quiz competition involving only the three (3) outstanding winners from the Oluwole AWOKOYA Chemistry Competition from all Lagos State Secondary Schools under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Alausa, Lagos.
The CSN maiden Conference is expected to serve as an avenue for academics, industry professionals, policy makers and students to explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in chemical sciences particularly in addressing critical issues of security, ethical responsibility and environmental sustainability.
