The Management of DevReporting (an online platform focused on promoting informed discourse, balanced reporting, and driving comprehensive impact on development issues), on Monday, September 21, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to officially flag off awareness for its forthcoming 3-in-1 event scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2026.
The delegation, led by the Managing Editor of DevReporting, Christiana Alabi-Akande, used the occasion to brief the University Management on the planned event and formally extend an invitation to the University.
Alabi-Akande explained that the 3-in-1 event will feature:
- the screening of a documentary titled “L.G. Billions in the Dark” ;
- the formal unveiling of the Development Reporting Africa Foundation (DRAF); and
- a fundraising event.
The Managing Editor expressed appreciation to the University Management for approving the use of UNILAG as the venue for the three activities. She noted that the approval underscored the University’s support for initiatives that promote development-oriented journalism and informed public discourse.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on behalf of the University Management, congratulated the DevReporting team on the planned event and assured the delegation of the University’s goodwill and support.
Professor Ogunsola particularly commended DevReporting’s journalistic philosophy of highlighting positive milestones and developmental achievements alongside challenges that require attention. She noted that such an approach could contribute to a more balanced narrative about Nigeria, while encouraging attitudinal reorientation and supporting national development.
The brief session, which was held on the sidelines of the weekly University of Lagos Management meeting, climaxed with the formal presentation of the official invitation to the Vice-Chancellor and other members of the University Management by the DevReporting delegation.
