Eligible members of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Community (PhD students and researchers) are hereby encouraged to apply for the Young Talents from Africa initiative of the Eni Award 2027.
The prestigious international opportunity is now open for applications from outstanding African PhD students conducting research in the fields of energy, environment, and sustainable development. As part of its commitment to promoting scientific excellence and innovation, the Eni Award will confer two prizes to eligible doctoral candidates whose research has the potential to contribute to sustainable solutions for Africa, in line with the “One Planet, One Health” approach and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be citizens of an African country;
- Have been born in or after 1986;
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) and a Master’s degree (M.Sc.) or equivalent qualifications;
- Be enrolled in the first or second year of a PhD programme by the application deadline;
- Be undertaking their doctoral studies at an African university or research institute;
- Be conducting research related to energy and the environment with potential benefits for an African country, region, or the continent as a whole.
Award Benefits
Each winner will receive:
- A customized recognition plaque;
- A cash prize of €25,000;
- Participation in the Eni Award Prize-Giving Ceremony in Italy: Eni will provide hospitality for the award recipients and a maximum of one accompanying person attending the ceremony.
