The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, Faculty of Computing & Informatics, University of Lagos, invites eligible students to apply for the FATE Foundation & Google DeepMind AI Upskilling Programme.
This exciting initiative delivers Google DeepMind’s AI Research Foundations Curriculum, aimed at strengthening AI teaching, learning, and research capacity across African universities.
Participants will gain hands-on experience in:
- Foundational Artificial Intelligence concepts
- Neural Network Design
- Language Data Representation
- Transformer Architecture
- Fine-tuning Transformer Language Models
- Solving real-world African challenges through Capstone Projects
The programme will run in cohorts, with each cohort lasting 6 to 8 weeks.
Who Can Apply?
Students from 200 Level to Final Year, as well as Postgraduate Students, are encouraged to apply.
Applicants should possess:-
- Strong motivation and commitment to complete an intensive programme
- Basic knowledge of Python or another programming language
- Ability to dedicate 15 hours per week for the duration of the programme
- Access to a reliable laptop
- Willingness to comply with programme attendance and conduct requirements
Benefits
Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive an official Certificate of Completion.
Please note that nomination does not guarantee placement. All applications will undergo a review process, and qualified candidates who are not selected for the first cohort may be considered for subsequent cohorts.
