The College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL) Alumni Class of 1998 has demonstrated its commitment to supporting the next generation of medical professionals with the presentation of research grants to students of the College.
At a brief ceremony held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at the New Board Room of the College, ten (10) 500-level MBBS students received a cash award of One hundred thousand naira (₦100,000) each to support their research projects.


In his remarks, the Provost of CMUL, Professor Ademola Oremosu, commended the Alumni Class of ’98 for the act of generosity. Prof. Oremosu recalled that the class had previously donated a solar power project to Tafawa Balewa Plaza, and also organized a symposium for medical students.


He noted that “the donation will not only enhance the academic performance of beneficiaries but also inspire them to give back to their alma mater in future”.
President of the CMUL Alumni Class of 1998, Dr. Ekundayo Omogbehin, who spoke on behalf of alumni group, explained that the scholarship gesture aimed to providing financial succour as well as support ideas and innovations. He declared the alumni group’s readiness to partner with the CMUL management team to train students in the entrepreneurial aspects of the profession.


Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, President of the Association of Medical Students, University of Lagos (AMSUL), Akinsulire Modupe expressed gratitude to the alumni, describing the gesture as a timely boost to students’ academic pursuits.
