The Department of Botany, University of Lagos (UNILAG) is set to celebrate its 60th Anniversary, from Wednesday, October 8 to Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. daily at the Julius Berger Hall, UNILAG, Akoka.
The two-day celebration, themed: ” Botany @ 60 – The Impact, Challenge and Future”, will highlight six decades of green discovery, trailblazing research, and dedicated service to science and society. It will feature a series of impactful activities, including:
Day 1: Exhibitions and Networking Sessions;
Day 2: Keynote Presentation by Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashola (Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Agriculture and Food Systems) and Panel Discussions
Members of the University community and general public are cordially invited to be part of this historic occasion which will bring together distinguished scholars, alumni, industry stakeholders, and students to reflect on the Department’s legacy, examine current challenges in the field, and chart a visionary path for the future of botanical sciences in Nigeria and beyond.
