The Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS), University of Lagos, presents the inaugural 2025 Lagos Conference, themed: “Our Lagos, Their Lagos.”

The Lagos Conference will bring together over 100 scholars, activists, and leaders for a critical exploration of Lagos’ identity. Discussions will engage with the city’s heritage, disputes, migration patterns, and the urban and linguistic dynamics shaping its future.
Highlights include:
- Keynote Address by Prof. Siyan Oyeweso, Professor of History and Pro-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
- Lead Paper Presentation by Dr. Adelusi-Adeluyi, Professor of History, Howard University, USA.
- Lagos Film and Documentary Colloquium on Saturday, September 27, 2025, showcasing cinematic explorations of Lagos’ stories.
The IADS, a leading research institute at the University of Lagos, continues its mandate of conducting cutting-edge research in and about Africa – focusing on African heritage, culture, identity, and decolonisation.
