The immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe, FAS, has been appointed Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Universities Commission (NUC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
A distinguished academic and seasoned university administrator, Professor Ogundipe served as Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG from 2017 to 2022. He currently serves as Pro-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State.
The appointment places Professor Ogundipe at the helm of Nigeria’s university regulatory framework, where he will contribute to strengthening governance, enhancing policy direction, and advancing quality assurance across the tertiary education system. He succeeds Emeritus Professor Olufemi Raphael Aina, who resigned his appointment after less than one year in office.
