UNILAG Campuses Come Alive as Maiden Registry Week Begins with Awareness Walk

The Maiden Registry Week celebration of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) kicked off on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, with an Awareness Walk held simultaneously on both the Akoka and College of Medicine, UNILAG, Idi Araba (CMUL) campuses.

On the Akoka campus, registry staff across faculties, departments and units of the university, led by the University Registrar, Mrs Victoria Wickliffe, converged in their numbers, at the basement of the UNILAG Senate House: the take-off point.

Some members of the university management team including principal officers were also on ground to identify with the registry staff in the spirit of the celebration.

The campus erupted in excitement as Registry staff took to the roads in a vibrant, carnival-like procession. With infectious energy, they danced, cheered, and marched from the Senate House to the University Main Gate, through the Faculty of Education, and Distance Learning Institute (DLI), before returning to the starting point.

In her remarks to flag off the awareness walk, Mrs Wickliffe said the event being the first of its kind, marked another milestone in the history of UNILAG Registry and epitomizes a strong sense of unity, solidarity, purpose and love among all staff.

The Registrar expressed gratitude to the Maiden UNILAG Registry Week Organizing Committee led by Mrs Aderonke Asiwaju and UNILAG Registry staff for their cooperation, support and participation, which culminated in the colourful outing.

Themed: University Administration: The Future is Now, the Maiden UNILAG Registry Week Celebration continues on Wednesday, November 5, 2025; with a Financial Literacy Lecture scheduled for 10:00 am. at the Senate Chamber, Senate House, UNILAG. Other activities for lined up for Day 2 of the Week include a Medical Outreach as well as Sporting Activities slated to commence at 12 noon at the UNILAG Sports Complex.

The Maiden UNILAG Registry Week Celebration will climax on Thursday, Thursday, November 6, 2025, with a Public lecture titled; University Administration: The Future is Now, scheduled for 10:00 am at the Nurudeen Alao Auditorium, Distance Learning Institute (DLI), UNILAG.
