UNILAG Kicks Off 5th Int’l Week with Global Engagement Symposia Across Faculties

The 5th University of Lagos International Week kicked off on Monday, October 13, 2025, with a series of Global Engagement Symposia hosted simultaneously across various faculties of the University.

The sessions brought scholars, industry, policy makers and students together, to explore faculty-specific subjects targeted at exploring the theme of the 5th UNILAG International Week: Equitable Partnerships and the Future of AI in Africa, across different sectors.

Activities ranged from panel discussions to interactive workshops which examined diverse perspectives such as sustainable development, technology transfer, climate action, inclusive education, among other areas, a reflection of UNILAG’s growing commitment to deepening global collaboration, research partnerships, cross-border innovations and global impact.

Theme: Unveiling an Inclusive and Innovative AI Future for Accessible Healthcare in Africa.

The Official Opening Ceremony of the 5th UNILAG International Week will hold on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the J.F. Ade. Ajayi (Main) Auditorium, UNILAG, Akoka.

The Africa Lead at OpenAI, one of the world’s foremost artificial intelligence research and deployment companies, and owner of the famous ChatGPT, Emmanuel Lubanzadio; the Managing Director and Head of Sub-Saharan Africa at the Bank of America, Yvonne Ike; Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, and Nigerian entrepreneur and Founding Partner of Future Africa, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, are among the experts expected at the event.
