UNILAG OGESP Hosts 2026 Lagos Study Fair, Expands Students’ Access to Global Academic Opportunities

The Director of the Office of Global Engagement and Strategic Partnership, University of Lagos (OGESP, UNILAG), Prof. Abimbola Sowemimo has re-affirmed the University’s commitment to strengthening global partnerships that enhance students’ academic and professional prospects.

Professor Sowemimo stated this on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the 2026 Study Fair hosted by OGESP, UNILAG at the J.F. Ade. Ajayi (Main) Auditorium. The event connected students with international academic, career, and migration opportunities.

It featured presentations from seven (7) international institutions and organisations, providing students with direct access to information on study opportunities, scholarships, admissions, and career pathways abroad.

Highlights of Key Presentations

University of Bradford
Country Manager, Eseoghene Oluwayomi showcased the institution’s strengths, noting its top ranking in England on the Social Mobility Index and excellence in fields like Chemical Engineering, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, and Mental Health Nursing. She stressed that many programmes are professionally accredited, boosting graduate employability.

Carnegie Mellon University Africa

Associate Director of Student Recruitment, Mike Ssempa Mulindwa highlighted the university’s global reputation, Nobel laureates, and Turing Award winners. He encouraged students to join research initiatives shaping Africa’s digital future.

Queen’s University Belfast

Represented by Odesola Isaac Zachary, the institution was described as one of the UK’s oldest universities, established in 1845, with a global reputation for academic excellence and impactful research.

Northeastern University

Senior Associate Director of Recruitment and Marketing, Olakunle Shanu emphasized Northeastern’s career‑focused learning model, integrating education with innovation and real‑world experience across its global campuses.

EM Strasbourg Business School (France)

International Recruitment Coordinator, Sonia Vanhee explained the school’s unique blend of public university benefits and the prestige of the French “Grande École” system, offering bilingual programmes and partnerships with over 2,000 companies.

MiGreat Germany

Founder Adi Nduka‑Agwu guided students through migration pathways, including visas, skilled worker opportunities, Ausbildung programmes, and family reunification processes.

Birmingham City University

African International Recruitment Officer, Titobioluwa Oshinyimika described the institution as career‑driven, with modern facilities and a strong focus on employability. She highlighted Chancellor Ade Adepitan’s commitment to widening access for students from working‑class and minority backgrounds. 

A Vision Realized

The fair concluded with a lively Question & Answer session, where students asked about admissions, scholarships, and study options. Many participants registered immediately, beginning their application journeys to institutions that inspired them. 

The Lagos Study Fair 2026 was more than an event. It was a statement of UNILAG’s vision to empower its students with global opportunities, foster international collaboration, and prepare graduates to thrive in a connected world
