The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Horticulture and Beautification Committee has launched the Adopt, Beautify, University Maintains (ABUM) scheme to enhance the institution’s horticultural landscaping and overall aesthetic appeal.

Established by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, in 2024, the Committee is chaired by Research Professor Kayode Eesuola, and comprises members drawn from relevant units and departments across the University.
ABUM Scheme
Under the ABUM scheme, over one hundred (100) spaces have been identified across the campus for adoption, beautification, and maintenance.
The scheme is a win-win partnership programme with community members and stakeholders (including business enterprises, traders, banks, prominent alumni, among others) as the name or business of the stakeholder, who adopts a space, will be prominently featured on the space.
Already, a business enterprise on campus: Iya Moria Restaurant and Catering Services has adopted a site right beside the Senate House.

Call to Community Members and Other Stakeholders
The Horticulture and Beautification Committee aims to work with partners to transform the university’s aesthetic landscape by December 2025, further solidifying UNILAG’s reputation as the Nations’ Pride.
Members of the university community and stakeholders are encouraged to support the Committee in achieving its goal, and participating in the ABUM scheme as a corporate social responsibility and stakeholder intervention. For enquiries and further information, please contact the Chairman of UNILAG Horticulture and Beautification Committee via: [email protected]
The Adopt, Beautify, University Maintains (ABUM) scheme is expected to evolve into a story on beauty that can be achieved by UNILAG stakeholders and partners.
