University of Lagos (UNILAG), Nigeria has been selected as one of twenty (20) institutions across Africa to participate in the, Understanding African Universities’ Capacity for Climate Adaptation Research – Co-creating and Implementing a Climate-formed Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool (CO-CAT) Project.
Under the project, Professor Vide Adedayo of the Department of Geography, Faculty of Social Sciences, UNILAG will contribute to:
- Co-creating, piloting, and refining a Climate adaptation research-focused Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool (CO-CAT), generating actionable evidence that strengthens its relevance, usability, and impact
- Driving the development of practical user guidelines and powerful case studies, rooted in real-world experiences and designed to inform and inspire broader adoption
- Mobilizing high-level institutional commitment, ensuring that senior leadership and key departments champion the project’s implementation, scale-up, and long-term sustainability.
The 24-month project is jointly funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), United Kingdom and International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada through the prestigious CLimate Adaptation and Resilience (CLARE) programme.
The project, implemented by the Association of African Universities (AAU), the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), is aimed at building resilient institutional frameworks that can sustain and advance transformative climate research across Africa.
