Afretec Sustainability & Environment Cluster, University of Lagos (UNILAG), is organizing a workshop from June 2 to 4, 2026.
The workshop titled: “Empowering Africa’s Energy Transition: Innovations, Challenges, and Collaborative Pathways” is designed to foster dialogue among policymakers, researchers, and technical experts from Africa with the goal of advancing a shared vision for sustainable energy systems and research infrastructures across the continent.
The workshop will hold as follows:
• June 2, 2026 – Online (Webinar)
• June 3-4, 2026 – Physical workshop by 9:00am (strictly by invitation)
• Venue for Physical Workshop: University of Lagos, Nigeria
It will feature collaborative sessions focused on case studies of successful energy projects in Africa; expert-led panels and working groups which will address financing, technology, and policy integration; interactive sessions which will map key barriers such as grid infrastructure and policy inconsistency as well as a hands-on dialogue on off-grid and mini-grid innovations.
