The Sahara Group Making a Difference (MAD) Scholar Award seeks to recognize and support outstanding research and innovative ideas that contribute to knowledge generation, technological advancement, sustainable development, and societal impact within Africa.

The Award aims is to:
- Promote excellence in research and innovation.
- Encourage the development of practical solutions to contemporary challenges.
- Support emerging and established researchers.
- Foster collaboration between academia and industry.
Eligibility
Applicants must be a confirmed academic staff of the University, holding the rank of Senior lecturer and above.
Submission Guidelines
- Title: Concise and with clear project relatedness (Not more than 20 words)
- Executive Summary: Maximum of 600 words
- Introduction/Background: Maximum of 500 words
- Problem Statement/Justification: Maximum of 500 words
- Objectives of the Study: maximum of 300 words
- Literature Review: Maximum of 1000 words
- Methodology: (should include description of the study area, Data collection and data analysis) [Maximum of 1000 words]
- Expected Result: Maximum of 300 words
- Work Plan/Timeline: (Provide activity in the form of a GANTT Chart) [Maximum of 400 words]
All submissions will undergo rigorous review process by the Review Committee with emphasis on originality, innovation, relevance, methodology and impact to the society.
Award Details
Winners will receive:
- Grant Award: Up to $12,000 to support Research Dissemination/Implementation
- Recognition: Award certificate and feature on notable academic websites
- Presentation Opportunity: Present findings at an international conference/workshop
