UNILAG Commences GAP Assessment for Federal Government’s Diaspora-BRIDGE Initiative

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has commenced a GAP Assessment exercise under the Diaspora-BRIDGE (Bridging Research, Innovation, Development & Global Engagement) initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), in collaboration with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

The initiative is designed to create structured pathways for Nigerian professionals in the diaspora to reconnect, collaborate, and contribute meaningfully to national development through Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

As part of the exercise, Nigerian institutions have been requested to identify areas where they require the expertise of qualified professionals in the diaspora.

Accordingly, Heads of Department, through their respective Deans of Faculty, are requested to:

  1. Identify areas within their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes where diaspora-based professionals can support teaching and learning by delivering specific courses.
  2. Ensure that the proposed courses reflect their actual academic needs and align with existing programme requirements.
  3. Forward submissions through the appropriate Faculty channels to the Director, Academic Planning, UNILAG via dap@unilag.edu.ng on or before Monday, August 10, 2026.

The information generated from this assessment will support the University’s participation in the Diaspora-BRIDGE initiative and facilitate meaningful engagement with Nigerian professionals in the diaspora, strengthening teaching, research, innovation, and global academic collaboration.
